The Institute
The Institute Psychotrauma Switzerland(IPTS) is a network of trained Mental Health Professionals and psycological lay persons in Switzerland and in some of the surrounding European countries.
It offers people who have been affected by any sort of violence first aid for the soul, such as
- information (flyers in different languages)
- stress management after exposure
- immediate support after violent experiences, such as crisis intervention and CARE
- preventative interventions such as defusings, psychological debriefings, demobilisations
- therapies for psychological consequences of violence, such as Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, complicated grief, phobias and anxiety diseases, as well as borderline personality disorders
- training of peers (psychological lay persons) from specific professional groups (police, firefighters, rescue teams, hospital personnel, medical doctors, lawyers, social workers, ministers etc.) and of any other concerned group (banks, public traffic, refugees, sports groups etc.) on how to manage psycho-social consequences of violence
- training of Mental Health Professionals (MHP) (psychologists, medical doctors, psychotherapists, social workers, ministers etc.trained in psychotherapy techniques) on how to manage psycho-social sequelae of violence, and in giving support, training and supervision to the peers
- Training of psychotherapists in trauma-specific techniques for psycho-somatic and psycho-social consequences and dieseases which trauma can cause
